In silico simulation of
molecular biology techniques
against sequenced Eukaryotic genomes
Dr. Joseba Bikandi and Dr. Rosario San Millan have developed programs available at this site, and they are an adaptation of those ones used at insilico.ehu.eus against sequenced bacterial genomes.
In case information obtained from this site is used in scientific publications, please cite the following paper:

silico analysis of complete bacterial genomes: PCR, AFLP-PCR,
and endonuclease restriction. Bioinformatics 2004 Mar 22;20(5):798-9.

DNA sequences and some other additional information has been obtained from NCBI, Stanford (C. albicans), and Sanger (A. fumigatus, C. dubliniensis, E. Histolytica, L. Infantum, P. berghei, P chabaudi, P. gallinaceum, P. knowlesi, P. reichenowi. T. annulata).
Information obtained from NCBI includes complete genome sequences (assembled into chromosomes) and ORF data.
Information from Stanford University and Sanger Institute provides contigs (large DNA sequences) not assembled into chromosomes. During corresponding sequencing project, those contigs are assembled several times and their number will be reduced. At the end of the project DNA sequenced from contigs will be assembled into chromosomes. Consequently, in silico calculations performed against those fragmented and incomplete genomes will not be accurate. We will update those contigs regularly.
Additional genome projects are under development, and they may be added to our service in the next future. Anyway, our server is not powerful enough to handle long genomes. At the moment, we are only considering genomes under 30 million bp.
